All time classic for success in life and the martial arts. The kindle edition is plain awful, constantly broken up by comments delving for paragraphs into inane things such as the weight of chariots. It's difficult to see where the comments end and Sun Tsu's writing begins. The beauty of the book is the simplicity. The additional comments would be better served as footnotes.Product details

Annotated edition the book itself is great and the translation is great, but I would recommend getting a version without annotations - I found them distracting (they are sometimes a bit too opinionated or subjective, which can pull you away from your original interpretation that could be equally right). I think one of the best parts about reading this book is allowing yourself to interpret it on your own first.
version difficult to sort through annotations and simply read the book. I will likely purchase a paperback version so that I can understand the format of what I am reading more easily.

Warning this is NOT the Thomas Cleary translation, which is what I wanted. Even though this is listed under the Thomas Cleary/Shambhala edition. The translation matters, at least to me.
I did not realize this was an annotated book. I had read this book many years ago and loved it because it was very to the point but thought provoking. The annotated version just annoyed me because I don't really like someone else giving me insight that I don't need.
Great book! Applying many of these dictums to my business life. This version provides a lot of background about the warring states period. A lot of information is provided about the mystery surrounding Sun-Tzu and the conflicting information from historians about him being an actual person or just a caricature of another general. All in all great book, read it, love it, use it and impart the ideas.
The translations suffered badly. This book is a simple guess of what the Chinese Emporers actually meant. All nuance is gone. And it repeats itself constantly. This book could have been 30 pages and covered the subject. I'm glad I read it. It's a classic but I'm glad I'm done with it and can mark it off my list.
