I truly loved this book! I picked it up, and three hours later put it down finished... now here I am reviewing it! This is saying a LOT as this is not the type of book I would usually love and it was a busy day around here. This is a regular length novel, not a short, so that's not an excuse you can give me either. :)) The book was beautifully written. Hats off to Paul H. Magid. He is either very well versed on India and their religion/culture, or he did some very in-depth research.Lifting the Wheel of Karma is the story of Joseph, or Joey as he's referred to. We meet Joey as a teen suffering from some very serious nightmares, the kind that he wakes up bleeding from. Joey lives in Montana with his older brother, Billy, and his parents. He's not the usual teen character that has recently losed a loved one, is picked on in school, etc. Aside from the nightmares, and a healthy obsession with karate, Joey's life is pretty good. Until one fateful night.
Driving home from a karate match Joey is in a severe car accident. One which he barely escapes from, yet leaves him paralyzed with the use of only one hand. How can a young man, who once rode horses and was unbeatable in karate, learn to live this way? Joey loses his will to live, but is given a spark after a news article on India. From here Joey, with the blessing of his parents and help of his brother Billy, travels to India for enlightenment and hopefully the ability to walk again.
Here is where the authors descriptions and in-depth information on India, the cultures, the religion and even the sights, is beyond belief. It is so descriptive you can feel yourself in the taxi battling the traffic or enjoying the sights of the Happy Holli celebration. Trust me when I tell you, if you are a firm believer in Karma, God or Gods, afterlife, or just overall spirit, this is a must read book. A true five star read!

As a father of 3 children, I have limited time for leisure reading. Last weekend I downloaded Lifting the Wheel of Karma and expected to read it within a month, but when I started it, I found I couldn't put it down. I even read while on the soccer sidelines. It was a great inspirational story that even I had time to enjoy. PS. My wife said it was amazing and as an avid reader she finished it in one night, staying up very late until she did. C. Gabriel
A wonderful, spiritual book. I read it cover to cover in one sitting. I highly recommend this book as a gift to anyone who is struggling in life. I have purchased and given this book to others as a gift several times.
I read this book a while ago, and loved the story. A spiritual journey for the main character takes the reader on a journey too. I learned a lot about eastern spiritualism and Buddhism. But it is the story that takes precedence. I actually read this book straight through in one day, it was that good.
This is a story of redemption, spirituality, and faith. I'm always turned off by too much spirituality and religion in fiction. This story only alludes to those things, leaving the reader to fill in the blanks for themselves.
Uplifting and powerful, this book is for anyone regardless of religious beliefs.
As I turned each page, I became part of Joseph's journey and walked with him through his story. As a teacher and mother of three daughters this beautiful story of pain, persistence, forgiveness, understanding and healing is a novel to be passed on and shared with everyone I care about. I was taken in my the rich landscapes, the main character, Joseph and his search for meaning and peace. After reading the last page, I wanted to continue on for more! A great novel to me leaves the reader wanting more and and even when it ends stays with you. The story encouraged me to reflect on my life. This author is a keeper and I'll look for more of his work in the future to enjoy with those I love. So, starting writing!
Lifting the Wheel of Karma is a page turner. Plan to have some time free when you start, because you won't want to put this book down.
The is a fantastic story about life and the consequences of the decisions you make. Mr. Magid did a great job developing the scene. You feel like you are there.
The characters seem so lifelike and their problems so real. This book appeals to a very broad audience. Everyone will get something different from the reading experience, but I know Lifting the Wheel of Karma will make you think and reflect. You will want to discuss this book with others and it will make you reflect on how you have conducted your life and the effect you have on others.
Buy this book, read it soon. You won't regret it!

Lifting the Wheel of Karma is a very interesting, spiritual book. It addresses of how our past lives could impact us in the present as in the case of the character Joseph Connell. Whether you believe in karma or not, there is something out there that balance everything else. I have been an observer (I have been told to major in theology) and have noticed that the people we meet in our present lives, either open or close doors to possibilities. These individuals in our lives are what teaches us to either transcend our physical wants and needs.
I love the way the story is told in a third person's point of view. Joseph, at the beginning of the story, was already dealing with his nightmares without knowing why these nightmares were attacking him. He has supportive parents and an older brother who love him yet they couldn't help him with his nightmares. Joseph has to go through a spiritual journey to learn about himself and those around him. By the end of the book, the story reveals the revelation of what and why the nightmares hunted Joseph. I found the revelation quite fascinating and the ending made sense by connecting all the dots throughout the story.
